SOUTH PARK ARTS ANNOUNCES 7TH ANNUAL ART UNDER $100 HOLIDAY SALE

SEATTLE:  The 7th Annual Art Under $100 sale takes place Saturday, December 3, in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood. Sponsored by South Park Arts, Art Under $100 showcases work by artists who live and work in South Park.

South Park artists will knock your stockings off with original, edgy works not seen at a typical holiday sale.  What’s more, everything’s affordable with nothing priced over $100.  The event features a diverse array of art, including painting, sculpture, neon, jewelry, clothing, photography, glass, letterpress and more.  And this year, the number of artists doubles.

How?  Art Under $100 2011 is moving to a new venue.  Its wild popularity forced the event out of the charming old firehouse and into South Park’s Community Center for some much needed space.  Shoppers won't see a mundane gym.  They will experience a warm, intimate wonderland perfect for socializing and looking for treasure.

Wine, appetizers, the sounds of DJ MQuin… You’ll actually enjoy holiday shopping.  Plus every half hour lucky winners get their pick of art donated by participating artists. (Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.) Proceeds benefit the South Park Teen Program and South Park Arts, an organization dedicated to supporting, representing, and promoting art and artists in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood.

Don’t miss the holiday party of the season!

Where to Buy the Beans!

Jessie Beans Accessories are now available in 3 fabulous Seattle Locations!

Last weekend I met with the wonderful Rachel Karlin - owner of Ola Salon in West Seattle. She saw the GIRL Seattle booth at the Fremont Fair and loved our items so much she decided to carry a selection of them in the Salon! Her favorite items were the Jessie Beans Hand-Set Vintage Rhinestone Brooch's - so Rachel picked an excellent selection of them to sell in Ola! She also has my new crystal bobby pins and some skinny headbands for summer in stock!

For a wonderful summer afternoon in West Seattle I recommend a spa treatment at Ola,  then walking over to the wonderfully whimsical Luna Park Cafe' for lunch!  After food and pampering a short trip under the West Seattle Bridge will take to you Alki Beach for a gorgeous day in the sun!

Another great store in the Seattle Area is Ventures - currently located on 1st and Occidental, but will be moving to Pike Place Market in September! Ventures is a non-profit retail store that only sells items from local entrepreneurs - they are an awesome place to support and shop from!

Ventures was also restocked with over 100 new items from Jessie Beans last week! They have the biggest selection of wide headbands of any store that carries Jessie Beans. They also have a lot of skinny headbands, stretchy headbands and some other Jessie Beans treasures!

The boutique with the largest variety of Beans is the Pretty Parlor on Capitol Hill. This is the only store that carries my feather fascinators, in addition to every headband style I make and lots of clips, bobby pins, cuffs and combs! If you are looking for a collection similar to what you see me selling at street fairs - the Pretty Parlor is the place to go! When your there be sure to give a good snuggle to Vincent, the shop kitty!

The Pretty Parlor!

I will be restocking The Pretty Parlor today with some lovely new beans!

It is the most whimsical boutique in all of Seattle and one of the FEW places you can find Men's Vintage clothing and accessories (and of course tons of Women's items).

If you're a fan or rhinestones, ruffles, sparkles, satin, lace, glamour, vintage or indie designers (or Jessie Beans Accessories) - this is the shop for you!

And don't forget the Fremont Fair is this weekend!

Come to the underground garage next to PCC to hear excellent music selections from DJ Jessie Beans (me!), shop the full collection of Jessie Beans Hair Accessories and Girl Seattle Fashion Jewelry as well as other great local artists!

Summer Events!

Summer is starting to make appearances in Seattle and there is no better way to celebrate the sunshine than by attending a street fair!

Here is a list of my current upcoming events for Summer and what you will find at them:

U-District Street Fair
May 21st & 22nd
10am - 6pm
Come check out the longest running street fair in the U.S! This event is HUGE with tons of art & entertainment to kick off the street fair season and sunny weather! There is lots to do for kids and adults and this is where I debut my spring collections and have a full 10'x10' booth of just Jessie Beans Accessories!

Punk Rock Flea Market
Sat June 4th
10am-8pm

This awesome "Anything Goes" market is great for finding unique items and good deals! Here I sell vintage items, craft items and excess components in addition to my full collection of headbands. The June show has bands playing outside in the parking lot this year, so come by for some cheap entertainment and awesome finds!

Fremont Solstice Fair
June 18th & 19th
Sat: 10am - 8pm; Sun: 11am-6pm

This is the most whimsical fair of them all! Be sure to come by Saturday morning for the parade and check out other shopping & entertainment for the rest of the day! At this fair you will find aerialists, art cars, buskers, beer gardens, fairies, food, nudists etc. etc. - a collection of bizarre & inspiring entertainment and goods all throughout the heart of Fremont! You will find the Jessie Beans booth shared with GIRL Seattle in the underground garage next to PCC!  I also provide the soundtrack for the garage, so you can enjoy some excellent music while you shop the I Heart Rummage booths!

Alki Art Fair
July 23rd & 24th
 10am - 6pm

This fair is the perfect opportunity for a trip to the beach! Come enjoy the sunshine, seabreeze and gorgeous view while you shop from local artists. 10% of all purchases made at this art fair go toward art class scholarships at the Alki Community Center! There is also live music, great restaurants (Mmmm Sunfish!) and of course the BEACH!

And don't forget to stop by the Jessie Beans/GIRL Seattle Booths and say "Hi" if you come by!
